“Be strong and COURAGEOUS. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
It takes COURAGE to step out of your comfort zone and walk by faith, especially helping children in physical pain or emotional turmoil. Even more courage to bring them into YOUR safe place.
Children in our own community placed in foster agencies are being overlooked. Due to lack of knowledge, people may think their problems have been solved because they have been placed in a new home. In fact, these children have just begun the healing process. Some may experience compounded trauma as they bounce from home to home.
Children within the foster system in Colorado have a difficult time accessing essential resources. Although foster agencies do their best to meet all the needs of these children. However, there are needs still going unmet.
According to the Colorado Department of Human Services, there are over 4,000 children in the foster system across the state of Colorado, with many foster parents struggling to meet the demands of providing for these children. The struggles are significant, but with the proper support, your donations help provide a nurturing, stable environment these children need to thrive.
Our mission is to be a REFUGE for children and work SIDE BY SIDE with ministry partners and the foster system by providing faith-based resources to meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Some children have experienced severe neglect, abandonment, physical abuse, sexual abuse, drug exposure, sex, or labor trafficking. Due to the sensitivity of the subject, many people feel uncomfortable addressing these topics because they are too ugly for polite conversation. Meanwhile, children are being treated like second-class citizens or worse, and NO CHILD should ever feel alone or unloved.
Courageous Love is NOT a foster agency. Our goal is to support children in the foster system to feel loved, seen and heard. We do this by meeting tangible needs and providing positive experiences.
Courageous Love was founded in 2024, and inspired by the personal experiences of Andrew and Lindsay as foster parents in Colorado. Lindsay says, "It is one thing to get trained and another to be in the trenches." They sought to create a ministry that would address these needs through faith-based support and community engagement.
Andrew and Lindsay have currently fostered three placements in the course of one year. Together, they discovered common difficulties particularly in accessing essential resources, balancing a new schedule, food therapy, physical therapy, behavioral therapy, and multiple visitations. The children dealt with heartache by going back and forth between our family and their biological family. Oftentimes, we were left to pick up the pieces of their broken hearts. The children were scared, anxious, confused or angry because they don’t understand where they belong.
“My command is this: LOVE each other as I have loved you.” John 15:12
